National Day of Community Health Workerss:

On 21 May 2009, Ministry of Public Health Of Afghanistan together with World Health Organization, USAD and UNFPA celebrated the first National Day of Community Health Workers.

The Deputy Minister of MoPH, Dr. Faizullah Kakar said “CHWs are the front line of health services and they are the real face of ministry and health centers. With their ability of being in close contact with community, each house in village, they are the messengers of good health and well being to population.”
Based on AIDE MEDICALE INTERNAITNLE (AMI) 20,000 CHW are working in Afghanistan that half of them are women and planed to further train 20,000 more.
