Overview
UNFPA began its assistance to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in 1992. The Fund's office in Kyrgyzstan was established in 1993. UNFPA is now acomplishing its Second Country Programme, which was formulated jointly with other UN agencies in the context of the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF). The current Country Programme is planned over 4 years (2005-2009) and was prolonged for additional 2 years till the end of 2011. This programme coverd 2 main areas: improvement of reproductive health and population development strategies, including advancing sustainable development. Gender programme was divided into one separate programme. Currently Country Office is under development of the next Country Programme for next 5 years. read more
