Welcome to UNFPA Zimbabwe

An Overview of UNFPA in Zimbabwe UNFPA’s assistance to Zimbabwe began in 1981 with support to the 1982 population census. Currently, UNFPA is implementing the 6 th Country Programme (2012 to 2015) whose goal is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the people of Zimbabwe especially women and young people through promoting universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights. In particular, the programme will seek to reduce maternal mortality, the unmet need of family planning, new HIV infections and gender based violence, informed by a better understanding of population dynamics, and using rights-based and gender-sensitive approaches. read more
