Swaziland Country Report on Monitoring the Political Declaration On HIV and AIDS

Publications

In June 2011, Swaziland joined the international community in signing the 2011 Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS, reaffirming its previous commitments made in 2001 and 2006. The Political Declaration motivates and compels countries to work towards achieving the Millennium Development Goal Six to halt and reverse the spread of HIV epidemic by 2015. The 2011 Political Declaration demonstrates the spirit of planning for results through setting time bound targets that countries should achieve by 2015.

Best practices and lessons learned in humanitarian settings

This publication on good practices and lessons learned are a collection of experiences of country offices in managing natural disasters. The experiences show how UNFPA guidelines in humanitarian situations have contributed to improving the ICPD (International Conference on Population and development) agenda. These experiences and practice make reference evidence-based tools, strategies, challenges and lessons learned in the course of life saving interventions in sexual and reproductive health and protection in different crisis settings in support of government efforts.

Plan of Action on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (Maputo Plan of Action)

Publication

The Maputo Plan of Action for the Operationalisation of the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Continental Policy Framework seeks to take thecontinent forward towards the goal of universal access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services in Africa by 2015. It is a short term plan for the period up to 2010 - recently extended to 2015 - built on these action areas: integration of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services into PHC, repositioning family planning, developing and promotingyouth-friendly services, unsafe abortion, quality safe motherhood, resource mobilisation, commodity security and monitoring and evaluation.

The State of Uganda Population Report 2011

Annual Report

Every year, the Population Secretariat in the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development, in its State of the Population Report, publishes key population concerns that need to be addressed in Uganda's quest to improve the quality life of its people. The key objective of this report is to provide comprehensive information and data to stimulate broader and deeper thinking, and to contribute to the public debate about Uganda's future. Survey of Availability of Modern Contraceptives and Essential Life-Saving Maternal and Reproductive Health Medicines in Service Delivery Points in Sierra Leone

This first annual report of the ‘Survey of Modern Contraceptives and Essential Life-Saving Maternal and Reproductive Health Medicines in Service Delivery Points’ in Sierra Leone is part of the new reporting system of the Global Programme on Reproductive Health Commodity Security (GPRHCS). The survey was undertaken to provide benchmark data information which are essential for sound Reproductive Health Commodity Security (RHCS) planning and for making administrative and policy decisions about the same. Three outcome indicators in the reporting framework were assessed to obtain data for country level indicators.

Survey of Availability of Modern Contraceptives and Essential Life-Saving Maternal and Reproductive Health Medicines in Service Delivery Points in Sierra Leone

Publications

Sierra Leone has a population of about 5.7 million, with an annual growth rate of 1.8 per cent and a doubling time of only 37 years. The high proportion of youths in the population has set in motion a high growth inertia for the coming generation, even if the fertility rate were to slow down to a normal replacement level. This is reinforced by entrenched socio-cultural stereotypes that favour large family sizes.

Sexual and Reproductive Health Framework

Publications

This report provides overall guidance and a cohesive Fund-wide response for implementing the Reproductive Health and Rights elements of the UNFPA Strategic Plan 2008-2011. The framework builds on the goals of the International Conference on Population and Development,1994; the Millennium Summit, 2000, with its adoption of the Millennium Development Goals; the 2005 World Summit; and the addition, in 2007, of the goal of universal access to reproductive health to MDG 5, for improving maternal health.
